We celebrated Steve's 13th birthday on July 28th.
On July 7th we celebrated Jean's birthday with a dinner at a local seafood restaurant with Jeff's family - meaning both of the grandchildren attended. Lizzie ordered two lobsters and she finished both of them! A chocolate cake with blueberry icing was made for Grandma by Lizzie from scratch. The cake was wonderful! The dinner, birthday cake and hugs were a wonderful birthday gift for Jean.
Yes, our grandson, Steve, is six feet tall!

We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary this past September. We elected to make it a simple affair consisting of a blessing offered by Pastor Stephen Damos followed by a reception on the church patio with our Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church family as the honored guests.
Steve plays on the Gorham, ME 10-year old Cal Ripken All-Star baseball team. The district tournament concluded June 29th with the Gorham team winning the tournament. Steve pitched four innings of the championship game giving up three hits, four walks and two runs; the Gorham team won with a final score of 9 - 2. For the entire tournament the Gorham team outscored their opponents by 20 to 2. The team moves on to the State of Maine tournament, which will be played in Belgrade, ME starting July 9th.
Steve played first base and pitched for the Gorham, ME 10U Cal Ripken All-Star team. Although the team finished in second place, we are very proud of the quality of the entire team's play. We enjoyed watching all the games. Congratulations to the Gorham 10U All-Star team, and special congratulations to Steve.

Update August 10th: The Gorham, ME All-Star team played in the New England Regional Tournament in Springfield, MA and finished in 4th place; pretty good considering that at the start of summer about 300 teams entered competition for this regional tournament.

2008
Christmas 2008 was spent at the Victoria Palms RV Resort, Donna, TX. We had wonderful Christmas Eve and Christmas Day dinners with friends we made during our stays at Victoria Palms.
Steve spent several nights in the trailer with us to play games and watch baseball games. One morning he was watching Grandma wash the breakfast dishes so Grandpa thought he needs to learn how to dry them.
We celebrated Steve's 8th birthday by taking him to a local bar and grill that has a two for one pizza special on Monday evenings. The gifts were opened at home.
Steve enjoys playing games. We introduced him to Mexican Train Dominoes, and he grasped the strategy very quickly. After playing the game for about a month he has become a formidable opponent. He also likes to play monopoly; it is difficult to beat him in this game as well.
2007
We celebrated Christmas with friends from Whitewater, Wisconsin and Ontario, Canada. The weather was warm, the wine excellent, the food wonderful, and the friendships cherished.
